Our paper with Mana Heshmati on what students learn when they take a strategy course was just published in Organization Science. This is a before/after study of 2000+ MBA students performing a realistic strategy task: predicting which company is more likely to be successful and explaining why. Good news: MBA students improve a lot after taking a strategy core course, they become much more likely to predict which company will be successful, provide more reasons for why, and are more confident in their analyses while also acknowledging the inherent uncertainty involved. Important things to know by anyone teaching or taking a strategy course.
