My paper now has a theme song

Today I ran a small experiment: could AI turn my latest paper into a music video?

A few years ago, I would have associated something like this with MTV and a production team. Now I can make it in a few hours with surprisingly little direction. That amazes me.

What interests me most is what this could mean for learning. Imagine asking an AI to explain a difficult idea as a music video, in whatever style you like. Or as a game where you try different decisions. Or as an interactive simulation where you change an assumption and see what happens. We could each explore an idea in the form that helps us understand it best.

The song tells the story of the paper, “Conceptual search: A generative view of entrepreneurial imagination,” forthcoming in Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. It follows a founder using AI to improve a business idea and combine it with others to imagine new ventures. Along the way, it shows how the rules for exploring, evaluating, and keeping ideas shape what gets imagined.

The video is also a small version of the paper’s idea: using AI to do something new. I usually explain my research through papers, talks, and classroom discussions. This time I tried a song and animation.

Have a watch. I hope it gives you some ideas about what you could create, and how you could use AI to help someone learn.

I never expected to say “my paper now has a theme song.” For those who prefer the traditional format, the paper is still available, with fewer synthesizers.

Made with Claude (lyrics and animation) and Suno (music).
